May'09 Newsletter, Issue #1
Happy Earth Day!
While Earth Day is officially over I am happy to report that our society is finally realizing that taking care of the environment once a year on Earth Day is not enough! Step by step, day by day we can be the change. I spent over 7 hours at the Green Living Show in Toronto on April 25. I enjoyed experiencing what's new in the green market. I shied away from the big companies that have jumped on the "green bandwagon" while still manufacturing and/or promoting product lines that are the opposite of being earth-friendly. I really enjoyed sampling wonderful food. I was very proud of myself that I came prepared – I brought my own stainless steel fork and spoon and a travel mug. While all the samples at the show were served in biodegradable containers, I was happy to cut down on unnecessary containers that still needed to be manufactured in the first place.

Board Room Travel Mugs
One of my Earth Day 2009 commitments is to no longer purchase disposable coffee/tea mugs. Yup, that's right! From now on my Board Room Travel Mug will be with me wherever I go! Take advantage of the 20% discount until the end of next week (May 10, 2009)! The Board Room mugs are great - they are leak-proof and you can drink from anywhere on the rim. |

Smiles Made Easy
Wonderful fill–in–the blank note cards from Smiles Made Easy. These thoughtful cards make a great little surprise for anyone in the family. Complete thoughts like “You're a great…", “Remember when…” or “I hope…" Be encouraging, inspiring, reminiscent…. or just plain goofy. Created by a mom who wants to make it easy to connect and say things that, in today's hectic world, often don't get said. Award winning Smiles Made Easy thought cards have also been adopted successfully as a tool in clinical therapy to – you guessed it – help people communicate. |

New Products
During the last month or so we have added some great new products:

Onyx Stainless Steel Containers
I was very excited to add these practical stainless steel containers to fenigo.com. Onyx offers three types of containers: layered sandwich boxes, layered double-walled and 3-clip airtight containers. So many options for lunching on the go! All of the containers can easily be managed by kids and adults alike. I will be carrying a couple of these containers in my car for unexpected times when I will be eating out. I truly feel awful finishing a meal in 30 minutes and then leaving behind a huge Styrofoam box that will take a lot more than 30 minutes to disappear. |

Enviro Threads
I was very happy to meet Liz from Enviro Threads (a Canadian company) at the Guelph Organic Conference this January. She has been creating simple bags for many different uses from unbleached natural and certified organic cotton in Lindsay, Ontario since 1996. We now carry the simple canvas lunch bag, cotton food storage bags in 3 sizes and reusable shopping totes. |

Built NY Relish Lunch Totes
I love surprises from Built! This new Relish Lunch Tote is slightly different in shape from the very popular Gourmet Getaway (new patterns have been added recently). It stretches slightly, is soft on hands and washing machine safe. And the Nolita Stripe Relish Tote will definitely get heads turning. It’s so bright and colourful! |
